Thinking
Writing from the people behind Clearahead on how growing teams find what's really in the way and clear it.
- Goal tracking vs a business operating system One tells you whether you’re on track. The other decides how the company runs. Most growing companies need the second and buy the first
- The moat statement You have a vision statement and a mission statement. The question investors ask next is what makes you hard to copy
- How to set company goals in 2027 Why Q4 is the time to do it, why SMART goals and cascades get in the way, and what to do instead
- The operating model for the AI era One loop the whole company runs together, and the rhythm that keeps it turning
- Why are you doing that? Your company runs on systems built for a world that’s gone
What we believe
Seven beliefs behind our vision: a world where every company is aligned in real time.
- Information is cheap now. Decisions aren’t. Most of how a company runs was built to move information around. That job is done, so spend the time on the decision
- Alignment beats activity. A team that agrees on what matters will outrun a busier team that doesn’t, every time
- Remove constraints, don’t add initiatives. Every new initiative is a bet that the problem is a lack of effort. It almost never is
- The machine asks, people decide. Where the line between AI and people should sit in a company, and why I’d never move it
- A loop, not a plan. The annual plan is out of date by February. Run a loop instead
- Hours, not months. If your operating model takes a consultant and a quarter to install, it was built for a different world
- Built for the whole company. Personal productivity makes individuals faster. It doesn’t make a company go anywhere
