Viewing a summary

What the Model summary includes, where to find it, and when it's most useful.

The Model summary is a read-only report you can open from the toolbar. It pulls the current Model into one place so you can see the whole picture without editing anything.

What’s in the summary

The summary brings together the parts people usually need before a decision or review:

  • the Goal you’re working towards
  • the focus Constraints and the evidence behind them
  • other active Constraints and any that have been cleared
  • all Moves, grouped by status: active, blocked, proposed and completed
  • recent Updates so the latest evidence is visible
  • a short housekeeping list showing gaps such as missing owners, missing due dates or items that have gone stale

In practice, that means it reads more like a briefing pack than a raw data export.

Why it helps

The summary is most useful when you need everyone to start from the same facts.

A good example is before a leadership Catch-up. Instead of spending the first ten minutes reminding each other what the Goal is, which Constraint is in focus, or what has changed recently, you can skim the summary first and begin from a shared picture.

What it is not

The summary does not make changes to the Model. It reflects the current accepted state of the Model as a report.

That makes it useful for reading, printing, saving, or sharing in a meeting without creating a separate version of the truth.

Ask AJ

“Give me the short version of our summary before the Catch-up.”

“What’s missing from the Model housekeeping list right now?”
